Advent and Christmastide Devotionals Booklet

This 2024© Asbury Advent & Christmastide Devotionals Booklet presents daily meditations from the hearts of members and friends of Asbury United Methodist Church.  They are personal musings about their relationship with the Living Lord, written down to share with each of us.  It is a collection of love stories.  This Advent & Christmastide, Asbury’s friends include: John Berry (Georgianna Church, Merritt Island, Florida); Rebecca Carpenter (Northland Church, Longwood, Florida); Kevin Chaplin (St Marks Methodist Church, Edgemead, Cape Town, South Africa); Mike Evans (Midsomer Norton Methodist Church, United Kingdom); Ann Gile (Sunnyside Chapel, Sarasota, Florida); Chris & Danielle Martin (Gateway Baptist Church, Montgomery, Alabama); Marti Pieper (Former Editor, Seneca Baptist Church, Seneca, South Carolina); Dr Shane Ryle (Chaplain, Recovery Ministry Coordinator, Orlando Union Rescue Mission Project Hope); and Jean Whiting (Henfield Evangelical Church, United Kingdom).  We have honored Pastor Tom Pieper by including a previous devotional as Tom was a faithful contributor to Asbury’s Devotionals for many years from 2014.

The Advent & Christmastide Devotionals are also sent daily via email to those on Asbury’s email list.  For those who do not have access to the internet, copies will be available in the church, or can be mailed on request.  For international ministries, including El Salvador, Bolivia, Haiti, United Kingdom and South Africa, copies are sent via email.

Asbury’s devotionals outreach ministries in the US include: Florida Residing Hope (formerly United Methodist Children’s Home); Russell House; Central Florida Reception Center (men’s prison); Oasis Church at Lowell Correctional Institution (women’s prison); Cornerstone Church at Lake Correctional Institution (men’s prison); Orlando Union Rescue Mission Project Hope (homeless men); Orlando Union Rescue Mission Families (homeless women and families); Recovery House Sanford, Outreach Missions Sanford, Central Care Mission Orlando; Coalition for the Homeless (homeless women and families); and Student Ministries of Central Florida via the Wesley Foundation of Central Florida.  In total, these devotionals reach more than 2,000 people.

If you are blessed by these devotionals, thank God for those who made them possible.  If you feel inspired to write your own devotional, we invite you to prayerfully consider contributing to the 2025 Lenten Devotionals Booklet.  The period for receipt of contributions for the 2025 Lenten Devotionals is from mid-December 2024 to January 17, 2025.  Devotional contributions should be emailed to Publications, or mailed to the church office.  For further information, please contact the church office, or David Vatcher, or by cell phone at 407 616 8514.

Enjoy these Advent & Christmastide Devotionals and feel free to share them with a friend, a neighbor, or anyone who you think might be blessed by reading them.  Show kindness always and make every day in Advent and Christmastide a blessed day for someone else.
