Whatever Comes Your Way

Scriptures: Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Jeremiah 29:11 (TLB) – “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord.  They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18a (ESV) – “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances;”

Message: My grandson came home from Sunday School singing “I am in the Lord’s army, yes sir!” and I loved it.  We all go through challenges of varying degrees and walking with God gives strength and purpose.  We need to stand up and let people know the God we serve is always there, loves us unconditionally and is always by our side, even when it doesn’t seem like it.  In little ways we can do this – if someone says they are not well, tell them you will pray for them.  I have a written prayer list so I don’t forget to pray for someone if I say I will.  It is important to surround ourselves with people who will build us up when we are weak and falter.  I find belonging to a fellowship/Bible study group helps, in addition to being a member of our church family.

Let’s try to be bolder, to shine and give God the glory, so others want to know this mighty God we serve.  We say grace at home, so don’t be shy to say it in restaurants too, and also when we have staff or customer lunches and dinners.  We all face many challenges in our lives and will continue to, yet through all this we must never forget God is there, waiting for us to turn to him.  We must stand strong, and keep on praying and focusing on God.  He keeps His promise, He is always faithful.  Trust Him, even when days are dark.  I am reminded of what I learned many years ago – rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and in all ways give Him thanks.

Prayer: Lord help us to never forget You are there for us in the difficult times.  Help us to shine for You and for others to know You through us.  Thank You for loving us with all our flaws.  We pray for peace in the world, and that we can each be Your love reaching out to others through us.  Please help us to bring glory to Your name.  Amen.
