Good Afternoon
All. I am reviewing my old E-Mails that I have kept and came across
this one about a reunion in 2013. I am no longer doing long
distance driving. I have a slight case of sciatica so extended
driving is painful and I hate traveling by myself. That’s a long
way to say that I will not be attending another reunion. Sorry. I
hope you are all well and have a wonderful time.

December 2012
Just
after the monsoon season in Pennsylvania, Joan writes:
Nothing to say and tired of all the rain and floods we have had. I
am one of the lucky ones – no problems caused by the weather or
anything else for that matter. Hope all is well with you. Joan
- September 2011
Joan writes: I wish to contribute the fact that I have nothing
of note to contribute! My health is still good although my
hearing is almost gone. Fortunately for me, technology has kept up
with my losses and I hear most of what I want to hear. And thank
goodness for “closed captioning.” Joan – April 2011
I'm still
around and planning to be for quite a while. I keep busy with a
project for the Franklin Institute which I can do on my home
computer. And I have finally gotten around to organizing my
vacation photos from an Easter Island trip in 2006 and my 2nd trip
to Antarctica in 2009. It is not a good idea to wait so long to do
this. Memories tend to lose specifics. Joan, May 2010
June 2008:
Hi. This is my first entry to your information on-line. I
moved to Maryland in 1966 and lived there for 38 years.
Moved to Audubon, PA, to be with my cousins. Since I was
born in Philadelphia most of my relatives (except my brother
who lives in Vermont) live in the Philly area. I have lived
in Shannondell at Valley Forge for a little over 4 years.
No cooking! No Cleaning! What more could I want? So
that's it. Joan

Life has been good.
After High School I attended secretarial school then worked for
Pennsylvania Railroad for 3 years. Married an electrical engineer /
reserve captain in the Marine Corp in 1953 and moved to Chicago.
Married 37 years and have 2 great sons, both electrical engineers
and 4 grandchildren ‑ 1 a chemist, 1 a computer programmer, 1 in
high school and one18mos old. I married again in 1994 to a
wonderful man, a metallurgist with a PhD and 4 grown sons, 1 a
dentist and 3 electrical engineers. On my husband's side 6
grandchildren ‑ 2 in college, 3 in high school and 1 in grade
school. We are proud of all of them.
My husband Jim
and I are enjoying good health. I have had my own interior design
company while living in St. Louis. Mission work has been an
important part of my life by volunteering: I went to Louisiana two
times after hurricane Katrina to gut houses, helped build homes for
Habitat for Humanity, prepare and serve meals at a local soup
kitchen, once a week volunteer to help a family with quadruplets ...
makes me realize that we all need help sometime in our lives.
Looking forward to
the Reunion! Your classmate, Myra

reunion with Wil. November 2017
Hi, Wil and I just
returned from Virginia where we attended our grandson, Michael's
graduation from Virginia Tech. We're adding another Mechanical
Engineer to society! He's staying on for graduate school in
robotics. While down there we went into Roanoke to the O. Winston
Link Museum. He is the photographer who is noted for nighttime
photographs of steam trains. Also in Roanoke is the Museum of
Transportation with large steam locomotives. A stop at the Blenko
Glass Factory in Milton, W.VA, rounded out a very satisfying trip
getting all our family together. Rick, our older son and
Susan, his wife flew over from Munich to proudly watch their son
graduate. Our other son, Keith, Beth, his wife, and
their two children, Katie and Patrick also came making
for a wonderful reunion.

LOUISE
RANDALL (Walsh)
P.O.Box 1225
Friendswood, TX 77549
Hello from
hot, hot Houston. I have a new email address to report. Now
that I have this spiffy Mt Lebanon High School Roster I feel like a
part of the "old" (in the nicest sense of the word) family and do
not want to be left out of any of the family news. I am
excited about the probability of visiting Mt. Lebanon on September
19th to attend the marriage of my younger daughter's daughter.
I have not been back home since 1984 when my mother died. I
think it is amazing that this granddaughter from Baltimore has
fallen in love with a young man born and raised in Pittsburgh.
I am delighted. The only thing that would make me happier
would be if my darling husband could travel with me, but his health
does not permit such an extended trip. I will have to take a
thousand pictures for him. 'Bye for now.
Louise Walsh – August 2009
Classmates of 48,
my husband and I had looked forward to attending the reunion with
joyful anticipation. His recent illness and extended
stay in the hospital, however, have made our travels impossible. We
are both terribly disappointed.
Please say hello
to everyone for me and let me know how the celebration went.
I want to stay "connected" and would love to receive a directory of
people and their addresses, if possible. I want to be able to
communicate with written words if not by face to face contact.
Bill is now at home
trying to recover from his heart and circulation problems. Progress
is very slow. With much appreciation and warm regards,
Louise Randall Walsh – August 2008
June 2008:
Tom (deceased),
It has been such a joyful experience to visit with you and to feel
reattached to those classmates of bygone days. Thank you for your
perseverance and resourcefulness in finding me. You are a
super sleuth. I am looking forward to perusing the internet site to
learn more about everybody.
As for me, aside
from growing old which I try to ignore, I have worked most of these
years in an educational setting. I retired for a month five
years ago but missed working so much that I resumed work at a place
a friend of mine discovered. It sounded like a challenge! It is
many miles from our home in a school district that is very wealthy
because of tax dollars from industry. The location is
near the Houston ship channel, the second or third largest ship
channel in the U.S., so they say. As you can imagine,
the environment (and the kids) are very interesting. This last year
I have been located in one of the high schools. The reason I
mention this is because as I look back at our graduating class and
then look at the 600 plus kids that just graduated from the school
where I've been, ---well, words escape me. A different world
altogether.
As for me, nine
days from today Bill and I will have been married 35 years.
We met at "Parents Without Partners" where we discovered that some
of our kids already knew each other. I have two daughters
from my first marriage and he has four girls from his previous
marriage. They were all born between August 1953 and March
1959. We have two sets of girls that were born 10 days apart,
so it was rather like having two sets of twins. I am happy to
say that they are all married and all have dear children of their
own.
And now, I best
sign off which I do with a word of thanks to you and your team of
'48 graduates. I would love to attend the reunion, and hope
that we can. Bill has had heart problems that
have brought about a slowing down in his activities. I will
keep you updated regarding our intentions.
With hugs all around, Louise Randall Walsh
June 2008:
Louise returned my call tonight and was excited that I had
located her. She gave me her email address,. She said
her mail address is PO Box 1225, Friendswood, TX 77549 so use this
in the roster, not the street address I sent you. The phone is
correct at 281-482-6434. I said you would email her an
invitation and she sounded like she might consider coming.
Like you, she said she was still working but I didn't ask what she
does. She sounded great and said they have lived there
in their house there for 34 years. I emailed her the
website so she's looking forward to seeing it as she was unaware of
it. -
Tom (deceased)
June 2008: BINGO!
Here is Edgar Mitchell's reply regarding his former wife,
Louise Randall. I looked her up on People Search and she
is listed as age 77 with names of Louise Elizabeth Walsh
and Louise Randall Walsh. He husband is listed as
William C. Walsh. I called her, but unfortunately got an
answer machine and left my phone number. At least I have found
her.
Bill,
in the meantime, you can transfer her from Lost to Alive and well in
Friendswood, TX with her current married name -

many years of wondering whether the '48 "seeoursite" still existed, there it

These are strange times, aren't
they? Family and I had planned trips to Italy and Japan this spring and

Finally found
this site again...and would so much like to hear from classmates. My
husband, Chuck, who taught Math Ed at the local SUNY Oswego, died in
2007. I'm fine...staying home and hoping for a good end to this pandemic.
I continue to make quilts, play Bridge, and in good times, play the piano/
organ keyboard at a small Methodist church. My daughter and grandson (one
of eight) currently live with me, along with two dogs, one cat and two
hens. And two eggs a day is good! Nancy - April 2020
Still in Oswego, New York. Currently
gainfully employed as keyboard player at a small Methodist church.

2011:
Hi all...I seem
to have been traveling a lot...To England in 2009, seeing beautiful English
Gardens, with a week in London where daughter Jenny and I saw Prince
William "up close and personal." Then a lo-o-ng road trip in 2010 visiting
Niagara Falls, the Cleveland Rock and Roll Museum, Chicago highlights,
Wisconsin Dells and Frank LLoyd Wrights "Taliesin," all kinds of touristy
spots in South Dakota...then to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Yellowstone, the
Grand Tetons...and finally to Portland, Oregon, for a grandson's wedding.
And in there somewhere, we visited the house I grew up in, in Cleveland,
Ohio. There was a Fall 2010 wedding north of Pittsburgh and a summer 2011
wedding in Colorado Springs, followed by trips to Portland and Seattle,
Washington. For that trip, I came back by train...a favorite way to
travel. Then later this summer, lots of family to our cottage in New
Hampshire, where we celebrated a grandson's birthday with a hurricane. Now
back to real life, in Oswego, New York. For a while...............Cheers...Nancy
Linn.
November 2010:
Hy all...It's back
to real life in Oswego, after a great couple of road trips this summer. The
first...visiting national parks and monuments and fun tourist attractions
across this beautiful country of ours, on the way to a grandson's wedding in
Portland, Oregon. And the second, last month driving to Pittsburgh (the
first time in years) for yet another wedding. I had almost forgotten how
grand a view of the city can be had from the top of Mount Washington. Or
how bewildering driving can be getting from place to place!. Lovely trips,
both. My best to all...Nancy.
June 2008:

And
thank you for the invitation to the 60th (would you believe?) reunion.
I won't be there, as I'll be in New Hampshire then...but I certainly will be
thinking of you. I do enjoy the bits of news of classmates that you
continue to send.
News?
My husband, Chuck, died last fall. Almost 53 years married, and
he's sorely missed. I did take a wonderful trip to Italy this Spring,
with three daughters. The trip...to Venice, Florence and Rome, and
some in-between cities...was all too short.
I'll
hope to hear news from the reunion. My best to all...Nancy (Rankin)

and I enjoyed a "reunion" lunch in Syracuse, NY, over a year ago.
Carol
has since moved to eastern New York. And I hope she
has missed the snow that we've had in Oswego County. We have a lotta snow!
But the snow has sent us many emails and phone calls from family and
friends, with a long call from our matron-of-honor,

She called from the Cleveland, Ohio, area...and since that is also a "lake

do so enjoy reading about Class news, and you'll be pleased to know I've
resumed correspondence with classmate and Matron-of-Honor

There's not a whole lot new...we braved yet another wild and snowy Upstate
New York winter in Oswego.
Chuck
and I expect summer company from daughters, husbands and grandsons...and
will travel to our New Hampshire cottage in August. I did have a grand
reunion with cousins that I grew up with in Cleveland, Ohio, in Tampa,
Florida, this spring.
I
am having my "fifteen minutes of fame" and the enclosed photo (click to

which is published in the June / July issue #8 of QuiltWorks Today.
They mistakenly called our quilting group the "Sunbelt Quilters," instead of
the real name of "Snobelt Quilters." Must have been wishful thinking!

August 2003: Hy

thank you so much for the wonderful web site. I've enjoyed
learning about old friends, and still have many more names to check.
This has been an unusually busy summer, but one of these days I'll send a
longer update. My husband,
Chuck, and I celebrated a 50th Anniversary this past Fall, and enjoy
visits from our five offspring, with husbands / wives / eight grandsons.
We've lived in Oswego, New York, for 38 years...cold and snowy winters, but
beautiful summers on Lake Ontario.

is a retired college teacher (SUNY Oswego), and I've been making quilts for
some 30 years.

Hi
Bob. It's a little
scary to think about 65 years since high school graduation.
I left Pittsburgh the summer of 1964 for Albany with plans
to return in 5 years. But here we are 48 years later. All
of our 11 children, except one, live and work in this area.
We try to return to
Pittsburgh at least once a year to visit family
and friends. My health is still good, but you never at our
age. I'm sure we must have lost a lot of classmates by now.
I can't promise
you for sure that I will attend, but I'll give it a try. Keep me
posted by e-mail as to how things are going. Having organized
many events here in Albany, you and your committee have a challenge
ahead. Thank for contacting me. Fred Ruff – September

Dear Bill, I am emailing to send some sad
news. My husband, John DeWalt, died in September of 2010 of
leukemia. He was able to be active up to very shortly before
September. In the early summer we took a river boat cruise to
Russia, from Moscow to St. Petersburg. My eldest daughter adopted a
little girl from Russia, and we very much enjoyed seeing her birth
place - the beautiful city of St. Petersburg.
I have moved to a wonderful small ranch house near Ben
Avon in Pittsburgh. I live very quietly, but I do enjoy being with friends,
going to the theater and taking trips. I also paint in my spare time.
Thank both you and Bob for all that you do to keep us
of the class of '48 well informed. I do enjoy reading about my former
classmates. Fondly, Tudy. - May 2013

February 2007:
I am E-mailing you because you have put in the wrong picture with
the news of my cousin's death. My cousin was called
Jenny
Schwartz
(deceased)
in high school, so
people would not confuse her with
Jane Schwartz.
After high school she reverted to her real name,
Jane.
I am sure
Jane
Schwartz will be surprised to hear of
her demise.
January 2007: I
had Florence listed as "Lost" for quite a few years. My wife
Kay
and I "discovered" Florence at a concert in Orlando then lost track
of her again. We were glad to be back in touch with her.-
Bill
January 2007 - John
and I are back in Pittsburgh after being transferred many times with John's
various jobs. Two of our daughters are here - Suzanne DeWalt, an
attorney, and Caroline DeWalt, who teaches English at Upper St. Clair
High School and substituted for a year at Mt. Lebanon High.
I have sad news. My cousin,
Jane "Jenny" Ewing Schwartz
Brookes, died recently in Leesburg,
Virginia. She was married to Warren Brookes, a well-known journalist
and author.

On People Search I find Jane S. Cook, age 77, with addresses

nothing comes up on them in these addresses in phone search. It
also shows her with relatives Paul and Kari. I
then put in

writes from McMurray, PA: After living in Mt Lebanon for nearly 80
years I moved. to Peters township. I married a neighbor and never
left Orchard Drive till now. I’m in a delightful condo right on
the lake. Wake to geese and ducks. There are even two eagles
across the water. Grown up kids live outside New York City,
Roanoke, VA and Montreal. Been widowed for too long now. Bruce
was an attorney whose parents built their house on Orchard in 1926.
Of course all the kids went thru Mt Lebanon schools.
I went to Mt Holyoke college and
became a copywriter at KMG. If you saw Mad Men that could have been me..
I even worked on Heinz account in 1961. Bruce went Allegheny then
Harvard law. The kids: RB, Penn State and MBA at Pitt. John,
Allegheny then masters engineering from Bucknell. Pam, Allegheny then
master CMU. All married with spouses and two kids a piece.
For nonsense.: I was on a zip
line during a family vacation in Jamaica two years ago. Great views and fun.
At 84 still like adventures! Marilyn, October 2017.
Heard from Marilyn today. She still lives on Orchard Drive but
moving to a condo in Peters Township in April. She gave me no
other information. - March 2017
Hi
Bill, (1999): As for what I have been doing for
the last fifty years. it would either take about 1 line or a novel..
will try to figure it out someday and let you know.
I' m sure it has not been an unusual life. Rather typical I imagine
for a lot of people in our class.. but as in any human life .. there have
been interesting parts of happiness and sadness.. just can't believe its
been 51 years.. seems like 10.

Just to let you
know I'm still moving. Have all kinds of aches, pains and
illnesses but parenthood paid off. Pat and I have
children who won’t let us do chores or let shop. The greatest
things are the grandchildren and great grandchildren (3 children, 5
grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren and more coming).
FaceTime let’s us enjoy the
young ones. It hasn’t been easy with COVID. I was quarantined the
whole time, because of health. Only time I left the house was to go to the
hospital, doctors or laboratories (about 11 times). You classmates are in
my prayers. Sorry to hear about your close call with a pickup truck.
I know that pain doesn’t go completely away from injuries at our age. -

writes from Niagara Falls, NY: My Latest news is we have had one
more great grandchild and two more on the way. My grandchild
Kadi is due any day and we are concerned about COVID-19.
Patty and I still have our problems but we do the best we can.
Somehow she got a lower back compression fracture. It is quite
painful. She stopped pain medication because it made her nauseous.
We have stayed in
home since March 7th. We do crossword and jigsaw puzzles and watch YouTube,
Netflix and play games. Our daughter, Monica, is our caregiver. I just
got back to bowling twice a week when this virus hit. My legs are not too
strong and I have to be careful (try to walk a mile or two a day). Also am
fighting cancer. With all the prayers and well wishers, we're good for a few
more years, maybe. I really appreciate this site and I thank you and the others
who keep it going. Bill S. - April 2020
Bill, Niagara Falls, NY, writes:
Bill,
It has been a bad year for Patty and I but lots of good
things have happened also.
At the
beginning of the year Patty had heart surgery that didn't exactly work
out the way she had hoped. She spent a lot of time under home care, and I was
the "Chief Nurse Care Provider". I didn't take care of myself, my health
started failing, without recognizing it and I ended up in the hospital. How do
women do what I had to do? Fixing meals, making beds, washing clothes, shopping
for groceries and on and on. I gave up all outside activities. I sang in the
Church Choir, which took about 3 hours a week (gave it up). Bowled 3 times a
week (gave it up) and ended up watching a lot of TV, getting no exercise and
just becoming sicker and sicker without knowing it, until I ended up in the
hospital - 3 long stays in the hospital, with 3 different diagnosis. Told I
could never get better, put me on oxygen 24/7 and sent me home with visiting
nurses and therapists. ( forgot to say, after Patty's surgery she
fractured two vertebrae which healed but still hurt.) GOOD NEWS we now have 4
great grandchildren.
Our
number two grandson just got married. Pat and I are pretty mobile now
and can go out together again. We celebrated our 61st Anniversary at a
restaurant with 8 of our family. More good news, I am getting better, something
two doctors said couldn't happen! - October 2018
Bill writes from Niagara Falls: The last two years have not
been that great, but somehow we've survived. My wife Patty
fell down about 2 years ago and fractured her pelvis, and I, like a
big jerk, fell on black ice about a week later. Bruised my dignity
quite bad. Then,
I had to quit golf altogether. Gave all my clubs, bags, cart to my
youngest grandson . Quit riding my bike. In November, Patty
fell again, while working around the Altar at church. She fell to a
level about 18 inches below where she had been standing and landed
on her left jaw and cheek, fracturing her maxillary sinus. After
all this, being a quick healer, she is pretty much back to normal.
My number one thing now is bowling. Not as good as in my younger
years, but respectable. January 2017

Hi everyone.
Besides medical news, not much to add. All the local Dr.s and
nurses know me by my first name. I had to give up golf.
I was an embarrassment to myself, all alone on the course. Wasn't
going to decorate for Christmas, this year. My son Tom heard
this. The other nite, there was a knock on the door, and there
he was with a fully decorated tree (lights and all), ready to be
placed in our house. I still enjoy bowling and do it three
times a week. I've won three senior titles and one USBC
tournament (combine title). Have added two great-grandchildren
since last update. Patty and I keep busy with church
activities, and spend a lot of time with the grand kids. My
next update will have pictures. Bill Stanley - December 2011
August 2010: Hi
Bill,
Bob and the rest of you who read
this. Things have been rather uneventful since the 60th
reunion. Patty and I don't travel anymore. So,
she keeps, or tries to keep me busy with odd chores. It is
good that she does this. It helps keeping me in shape. My golf
game is so bad that I plan to give it up completely. Bowling
is my favorite pastime now, although I don't make as much money on
side bets now (still carry 200 avg.). Had a touch of sciatica this
past winter. The Doctor took care of that with steroids, but now
have a permanent ache in my right lower back. Other than
bowling and chores, we spend a lot of time spoiling the grand
kids. The youngest is three, a good age to spoil. They have
built a lot of trails for walking and biking in our area,
Bill.
They have something called the "Seaway Trail", along Lake Erie, the
Niagara River to lake Ontario and beyond. Best to all,
Bill Stanley

May 2008: Just thought I would update the images in my
bio. Want to make sure people know me after all these years.
I've grown to look more mature (not much though).
Believe
me, the pictures lie. In this family shot, I'm seated with our
youngest son, Tom. From left to right front are Lisa (daughter

Zachary and my oldest child, Monica.
This is "Papa" with Gabriella.
This is a collection of ID photos. They really do lie!
See you in August.

March 2007: Yes I
still want to hear from you &
Bob. You have
both been doing a great job of keeping track of our classmates. The news
sometimes saddens me, but it is good to see that people are still active and
enjoying growing older (notice I said older and not OLD).
I
have tried to be involved with outside activities over the years; working
with the Boy Scouts of America, the Telephone Pioneers, Volunteer Fire
Company, and I enjoy bowling and golfing.
I
had a heart attack, aortal aneurism and a mini stroke, all in the period of
two years, but I can honestly say that I feel healthier than before . The
reason for this is the fact that I eat better and exercise more. The last
14 years of career were spent seated behind a desk, smoking and having
coffee and donuts.
Patty and I now have 3 grandchildren. Their names are Thomas,
Zachary and Gabriella.
There are two others who call us Granma & Granpa and are accepted as
grandchildren (Timothy and Kadi).
I
will try to be available for the 60th MTL Reunion.
My brother, Bob and sister-in-law ,
Mary Frances
Troxell (Stanley)
died a year apart. For anyone interested, I am attaching a recent
photo of their two grandchildren (Dave and Sean).
See you in 2008, Bill Stanley

Bill's Biography
- January 2002:
Hello Classmates,
This is a short bio.
After graduating, I managed the bowling alleys in Mt Lebo until February,
1949, when was hired by the Bell Tel. of PA. In 1950, I had my
time bridged to the New York Tel. Co., in Buffalo, NY. Entered the
Navy in 1951 and served for four years.
After that, the Telephone
Company transferred me to Niagara Falls, where I met my wife,
Patty. We met in 1955 and were married on Oct. 12,1957.
We have three children, Monica,
William
and
Thomas. We built our home, here in the Town of Niagara, in
1963.
After 26 years in
management, I retired as a Circuit Provisioning Engineer, in 1990.
Since then, I've done a little traveling, a lot of golfing, bowling and
fooling around with my computers and other electronic devices.
I ran into
classmate
Bob Ott
(deceased)
aboard the "USS Coral Sea", in Genoa, Italy, in 1954.
I think this is enough, for now.
