From 50th Reunion Book, 2002 - On graduation day, I began employment with the Radio Corporation of America (RCA). I was assigned to a government communication group in Camden, NJ and worked with analog, digital and secure communication circuitry using transistors, digital chips and custom microchips throughout my career.
In 1956, I married a local girl, Carolyn Schroeder, and bought the house where we still reside in Collingswood, NJ. In 1958, a daughter, Janet, was born and a second daughter, Sandra, was born in 1963.
An active life followed with work, church and family activities. In 1971, we purchased land and had a cottage built in the Pocono Mountains which has served as "stress-relief'.
In 1986, Jack Welch (GE) bought RCA and a new era began. I retired in 1991 and now use my free time to enjoy my hobbies including world and national traveling, model railroading (HO) and sailing my Sunfish sailboat. |

April 2002 - It wasn't long after graduation when Uncle Sam beckoned. After a short stint at Ft. Dix I was sent to Michigan with the US Army Audit Agcy for 2 years.
In '54 I started my CPA career progressing from the largest firm , then smaller, until I operated my own. In 1970 I made a career change and became Chief Financial Officer of a series of corporations. In 1992 I switched back and resumed private practice. I now call myself "semi-retired" only because I still tend to habitually respond to the call of Tax Season.
As to my family life, Pearl and I were married in 1980 and now live in Princeton, NJ. We each have 2 children. We live half way between Ken (U of P'84) in Philadelphia and Melanie (Princeton'86) in NYC. Daughter Bari (LU'81) resides in N. Potomac, MD, and Jotham (Princeton'84) is in California.....and then there are 4 grandchildren to enjoy. I sang as an undergraduate and I'm singing still....now at Westminster Choir College with the Community Choir. Some of my other pleasures are gardening, birding, traveling and theater.

Upon discharge, he continued his career as a pilot plant engineer at Esso Research Labs in Baton Rouge and in the next 11 years there, 3 daughters (Dianne, Judi and Bethany) were born.
In the following 25 years, Jim served as President of Exxon's affiliate in the Philippines, as Vice President of Exxon Chemicals Asia Pacific in Hong Kong, as Secretary of Exxon's Management Committee in New York and then successively as Vice President of Chemical Specialties, as Vice President of worldwide Plastic Operations, and as Vice President Technology from which position he retired in 1986.
Jim and Bonnie now summer at Lake Tahoe in Nevada and winter near Palm Springs, CA. Both locations allow Jim to pursue his love of golf while Bonnie pursues her hobby of oil painting. The rest of their time is devoted to their 3 daughters and their families, which now include 8 grandchildren, ages 3 to 22, who live close to Palm Springs.
In June 2002, Jim and Bonnie will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. To highlight that event, 12 family members will tour New Zealand and Australia for 3 weeks. After that, on to bigger and better things! |
