     He was a retired senior engineer at IBM.  He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Tom writes:  Not much news except that I've finally found the right spot for my retirement. Both, my wife and son, only heirs, are deceased.  I needed a good place to take it easy and enjoy life.  I'm now in Florida at Freedom Place where there are probably another 600 or 700 who are retired.  It seems that there is always plenty to do and people to do it with- ie, golf, tomorrow AM, Poker in the PM and on and on.  Always interesting conversation.  But, that's enough from me now.  I'll stay in touch, be well. – October 2005

Lt. Col. John M. Fear '52, Bootjack, Calif., June 23, 2015.  Lt. Col. Fear served in the U.S.  Air Force during the Vietnam War and as the commander of Calumet Air Force station.

Alfred Feickert

Alfred C. Feickert, M.A. ’54, Kill Devil Hills, N.C., May 12, 2019.  Mr. Feickert was a Psi Upsilon brother.  He worked as a district manager of the National Federation of Independent Businesses - Fall 2019 Alumni Bulletin.

George was killed in June 1956 at McGhee Tyson Air Base, Tennessee when his Air Force jet caught fire on take-off and the ejection seat activated while the airplane was still on the runway.

He was one of Lehigh's all-time great wrestlers, having had dual meet records of 10-1, 6-0-1, and 8-2 in 1950, 195 1, and 1952 respectively.  He won first place titles in Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association tournaments three successive years, winning four matches and losing none each year.  In 1952 he was Lehigh team captain.

George embodied characteristics of a man to stand as a model to future Lehigh students.  He strove to achieve his goals up to his capabilities.  He was devoted to his family.  He fulfilled his duties to his community and country.  On June 20, 1956 he was interred at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.

He was a retired vice president of commercial and industrial relations with IBM.  He was a member of Phi Delta Theta, the Tower Society and was a Trustee Associate of the Asa Packer Society.

Surviving are his wife, Marie, two sons including David '80, a daughter and five grandchildren.

     He was a retired vice president of maintenance and construction for A&P, Montvale, N.J.  He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a founding member and past president of the junior Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Board of Education, and past president and trustee of the Boys Club, all in Garfield.  He was a Senior Alumni Council volunteer for the Lehigh University Alumni Association.

     Laurel Johnson, Neil's daughter, wrote:  With great sadness, I report that he passed into the everlasting on March 31, 2014 and is with his Lord.   He will be greatly missed by his family, but they take comfort in knowing that his struggle with Alzheimer's is over and he is at peace in heaven with our Mom.  – May 2014

A very poignant and from the heart letter was received from Laurel Johnson, daughter of Neil Fisher.  Neil has been in a health care facility with Alzheimer's since 2010.  Upon graduation, Neil married Joyce Belk, his college sweetheart.  They settled in western New York, where Neil worked for Westinghouse as an electrical engineer and they raised five children.  In the early 1970s, Neil became increasingly dissatisfied with suburban life and the "keeping up with the Joneses," so he went back to school and earned a master's degree in teaching from SUNY Buffalo.  Call it a shift in direction or a midlife crisis.  Neil then moved his family of seven to a 35-acre working farm in Cambria, N.Y., and took a teaching post at Erie County Community College.  Neil taught electrical technology at E.C.C.C. until retirement in 1993.  He loved the farming life and enjoyed the diversity of his first farm, where he raised beef cattle, chickens and every imaginable fruit.  Although there was plenty of work involved with the farm, his family also loved the rural life.  In 1974 Neil bought a 135-acre farm near Lake Ontario, where he continued to raise beef cattle and hay.  Neil was always slightly ahead of his time, and he marched to the tune of a different drummer.  He designed and installed on his farm one of the first wind turbines in New York State and also designed co-generation systems in several commercial buildings in downtown Buffalo.  He worked with food banks and anti-hunger organizations, donating surplus produce from the farm.  Neil and Joyce were married for 57 years until her death in 2009.  With medication and his extraordinary number of brain cells, he was able to stave off the most debilitating effects of the Alzheimer's until 2010.  He is well taken care of hospital administration and community and still enjoys his love of music and good food.  Please keep Neil in your thoughts and prayers. -  Spring Alumni Bulletin 2013

This entry is submitted by Laurel Johnson, daughter of Neil A. Fisher '52.  Neil has resided at Briody Healthcare Facility in Lockport, NY since April 2010.  He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in 1992.  I am not sure whether my Dad kept in contact with Lehigh or with any of his classmates, but if anyone has memories of him during his college years I would love to hear them.

Summer 2011 Bulletin - Richard L Fiske - After graduating from Lehigh, he had a long career as a staff engineer for PECO Energy Company.  He was a member of the marching band as an undergraduate.

From Summer, 2019 Alumni Bulletin:  Robert J Flynn:  Bethlehem, PA., Feb. 7, 2019 . Mr Flynn was a brother of Phi Kappa Theta and the editor-in-chief of The Brown and White.  He was also a veteran of the US Army.  Mr Flynn worked in public affairs and academia and retired as president of sales for Electro-Space Fabricators Inc.  In his retirement, he volunteered for his class and as a member of the Senior Alumni Council.

From Winter 2010 Alumni Bulletin - Bob Flynn saw Neil Randall (deceased) and Dick Schaphorst at the Villanova game.  For many years, Neil and Dick worked together in Philly, sidestepped a corporate move to California, and then formed their own high‑tech company and prospered.  Bob volunteers at the welcome desk in the Alumni Memorial Building and is an active member of the Senior Alumni Council.  Thanks for the great message, Bob.

Winter 2006 Alumni Bulletin:  A wonderful letter came in from Bob Flynn.  He and his wife, Anne, have stayed in the Lehigh area since graduation.  Both retired in 1996, Bob from sales management and Anne from teaching.  Bob and Anne enjoy golf, travel, gardening, and volunteer work.  Bob's pet project is serving as an advisor to the Lehigh Valley Agency on the Aging.  He also serves on the Senior Alumni Council and volunteers at the Admissions Office desk with  Chick Kuss and Randy Zehner (deceased).  Thanks, Bob, for taking the time to send me a great letter.  Good luck to you.

From 50th Reunion Book, 2002 - Armed with a journalism / government degree and a semester as editor-in-chief of the Brown & White, I was ready to take NYC (my home base) by storm.  But the Korean War, marriage, children and woeful wages in the newspaper field intervened.  I turned to industrial communications and the Lehigh Valley has been my home for 50 years. 

I spent 12 years with Pennsylvania Power & Light in employee communications and government relations, 4 years with a local advertising agency and finally 26 years with Electro-Space Fabricators.  Ours is a little-known name unless you want the finest in custom hardware for electronic packaging.  I retired in 1996 as Vice President of Sales and now devote my time to golf, reading, travel, babysitting and August at the seashore.

Anne and I have been married for 47 wonderful years and have 4 children and 9 grandchildren.  Living next door to Lehigh has given us the opportunity to enjoy much of what the University offers to the community.  We have been rabid "Engineer" football fans through good times and bad (mostly good these days!), from the cozy confines of Taylor Field to the open elegance of Goodman Stadium.  We also are a Lehigh family in other ways.  My wife earned her masters in education in 1974.  Our son, John, worked at Lehigh in the early 80's as Assistant Director of Physical Planning and was responsible for the major renovations of Taylor College.

Robert Fountain

Bob, was the retired personnel superintendent for DuPont at the Waynesboro, Va., facility.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a brother of Chi Psi.

A retired manager of system design with Westinghouse Electric Corp., he received the M.S. from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology and was an Air Force veteran.  Surviving are his wife, Kathleen, two daughters, and a son.

William A. Fry '52, Rhinebeck, N.Y., June 13, 2009.  He retired after a 35‑year career as a quality control engineer for IBM.  He held leadership roles in the American Society of Quality Control.

Picture from 50th Reunion Book, 2002 - One week after graduation, I started working for IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY.  After 35 years (including 2 years in the Army Signal Corps), in various management and technical positions, I retired as an Advisory Quality Assurance Engineer.

In February, 1953, I married Susan Snyder of Bethlehem, PA.  We had 2 children, Katie and Peter.  Sadly, Sue died at age 38.  Later I married Gisela Martens.  She and her 3 children brought our family to 7.  Although none of the children were the same age, for several years there were 5 teenagers in our home.  Four of the children are married and have given us 8 grandchildren.  The fifth child will be married in June, 2002.

I was a member of the American Society for Quality Control and held many of the offices in the Mid-Hudson section, including chairman.  For several years, I was treasurer of the Poughkeepsie branch of Planned Parenthood.  After retirement in 1987, I was treasurer of our Condominium Association for 9 years.

Since retirement, Gisela and I have done a great deal of traveling.  We have particularly enjoyed touring in the United States and cruising in other parts of the world.  We have also enjoyed visiting Lehigh over the years and seeing the many changes on the Campus.
