Spring 2009 - Just before deadline,
Mike Seiler,
deceased,
Denton, Texas, phoned and told me that his good buddy
Frank Hoagey
passed away in November 2008. We reminisced for about an hour, and
Mike
shared that he got married in 1941; served in the Army 1944‑46; worked at
the Steel during school; after Lehigh, worked for 34 years for Daimler
Chrysler; and retired in 1986.
Mike mentioned that another of
his Town group pals,
Constantine 'Gus' Economy,
passed away in February 1998.
Michel Seiler's, deceased,

letter to
Pat Moran
(deceased) :
Hello Pat, Per our
phone conversation on Thurs. I've enclosed the Obit of
Frank A. Hoagey
ME Class of '52. that his wife Betty sent me. We appreciate
your letting the classmates know of his death. He and Constantine
"Gus" Economy and I were from the Town group and spent many cram
sessions together during our years at Lehigh. We continued that
friendship by coming together for the Reunions. I also was a part of
both their wedding parties in our senior year. I was the OLD man of
the group having married in 1941 and had two little girls to help me through
my studies. I worked at the Bethlehem Steel all through school and
served in the Army from 1944 to 1946.
In 2007
Frank
and I were making arrangements to attend the class 55"' reunion when he had
a heart valve operation and suffered a stroke from which he never recovered.
He was partially paralyzed until his death in Nov '08.
Gus
Economy died in Feb 1998 of a heart attack and I am not sure that
information ever was passed on to you. I'll contact the Alumni office to
check. I have sent a copy of
Frank's Obit to the Alumni Office.
Thank you
for the fine job of keeping the news flowing over the years. I really look
forward to opening up to your column first thing when the latest Bulletin
arrives. Wishing you the best in good health.

Evans
Deceased 9/20/17
Richard L Evans, Chestertown, MD,
September 20, 2017. Mr Evans was an Alpha Tau Omega brother. He
worked for DuPont for over 40 years.
I will attend the
2012 Reunion and ride in the parade. Has it really been 60 years?
Back in '52, how many of you were considering attending a 60th reunion?
Looking forward to spending time with Fraternity Brother
Don Hubsch
(deceased) as well as the rest of
you. We haven't seen all the new construction so the tour will be fun.
Wasn't it great that the various sports venues had some of their finest
years just so we could celebrate at our reunion. LU is really in the
news these days for a lot of reasons. Richard – May, 2012
Dick Evans writes: We have lived
in Chestertown, but not as close as we would like. MD for the past 14
years. My wife Marvel and I are well and enjoying the good
life. We volunteer in several local activities which keeps us busy. Our
family is fine but not as close as we would like. Looking forward to
seeing old friends at the Reunion. - March 2012

Alumni Bulletin -
Don Williams, class correspondent for 1950, sends along news that
Kay
and
Bill Bloomfield
(deceased)
(Note:
Bill
is listed here as we have no address or e-mail for him) and
Marvel and Dick Evans visit Nantucket, Mass., every summer.
August 2001: Bill Smith
(deceased) thought I would drop you a note to say hello and find out what you guys have been up to. We are well settled in Chestertown, been here almost three years now. We kept our boat near here - Rock Hall - for many years, and had planned to move to the area at the right time. One of the better decisions we ever made as we love Chestertown.
Number two son Paul changed jobs this spring and is now working in Dover, about 45 minutes away. Nice to have him nearby again. Rob, the youngest, is in Virginia about 2 hours away. Both Marvel and I are doing well and enjoying retirement. I retired in Jan. of 1992 so it's been a while since I've had to march to someone else's drum. Haven't been back to Lehigh in a number of years.
Our old group sort of faded away or passed away. I guess you know that
Van Loan and Clink (52?) passed on in addition to Herb (52?) and Slemmer (52?). Barthold (52?) hasn't been as active of late due to several problems. We expect to make the Reunion next June. Has a date been set yet? Let me know how you are and any hot news. See you one of these days.
