Lenten Season Suggestions

1.     Commit to reading the Lenten Devotionals every day, followed by a time of reflection and prayer.

 2.     Join the Asbury morning prayer at 8.30 am Monday to Friday.

 3.     Volunteer one hour, or more each week with a local shelter, tutoring program, nursing home, prison ministry, or a Habitat for Humanity project.

 4.     Pray for others you see, and before you text and phone during your day.

 5.     Be kind to someone each day.

 6.     Forgive at least one person each day (including yourself on occasion).

 7.     Cultivate a life of gratitude.  Write someone a thank you letter, or notelet each week and be aware of how many people have helped you along the way.

 8.     Read one chapter from your Bible each day.  Psalms, or a Gospel are good places to start.

 9.     Start a “prayer journal”.

 10.  Start a daily prayer rhythm; say a prayer every time you brush your teeth, hear an ambulance, check your e-mail.

 11.  Give up soft drinks, fast food, chocolate, tea or coffee and donate the money you save to help folks in need, or crisis.

 12.  Try an electronic fast.  Give up TV, video games, texting, tweeting, e-mail and all things electronic for one day every week (or everyday of Lent!).  Use the time to read and pray.
