Hardships Anyone?  Our Hardships Are Used By God!

Scripture: 2 Timothy 4:2 (NKJV) – “Preach the word!  Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.”

Message: It was 1:30am in ER I’m unable to breathe with a worried husband, and five medics working on me.  Thank God by 3:30am I’m breathing.  Problem not known, no beds, so I’m stuck in ER for 17 hours.   I’m getting frustrated and feeling sorry for myself.  Somehow the story of Paul and Silas in jail (Acts 16:16-34) came to mind.  These two disciples got arrested and beaten for helping a slave girl; yet still managed to pray, sing and preach, so why am I complaining?

We know that problems, hardships and sickness are part of life.  Even though we are saved and live in Christ we easily get discouraged when bad stuff happens.  The Bible teaches us not to lose patience and always trust God.  So, why do we so easily get thrown off the Godly path?  Simple, because we live in an evil world and a sinful body that pushes us to worry and doubt.  Paul says, “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.” Philippians 3:12 (NKJV)

Sometimes I may seem a little hypocritical: I need the same advice I'm giving, but I don't think God sees it that way at all.  He knows that even when we believe His Word, at times we don't hold on to it as firmly as we should.  Philippians 3:12 gives me hope!

While in the hospital, I tried to make the best of it.  As I was gaining strength, I had the opportunity to show videos of our praise band, and talk about what God has done in my life. I even gave away devotional booklets!  Doing this filled me with joy and changed my outlook during this “terrible season”.

Friends, keep sharing Christ, use His words to counsel and comfort ourselves and others because He is the best gift we have to offer.  Yes, we are going to mess up but it’s okay, as long as we don’t stop seeking God’s presence.

Prayer: God You know we are not perfect.  Keep working over our brokenness and our battle scars.  Help us to live a life according to You, in victory through Christ.  Amen.

¿Alguien con dificultades? ¡Dios usa nuestras dificultades!

Escritura: 2 Timoteo 4:2 (NVI) – “Predica la palabra; persiste en hacerlo, sea o no sea oportuno; corrige, reprende y anima con mucha paciencia, sin dejar de enseñar.”

Mensaje: Era la 1:30am en sala de emergencias.  No podía respirar, con mi esposo preocupado y cinco médicos trabajando en mí.  Gracias a Dios, a las 3:30am ya respiraba.  No sabían el problema y sin camas estuve atrapada en emergencias por 17 horas.  Comencé a frustrarme y a sentir lástima por mí, pero de alguna manera, la historia de Pablo y Silas en la cárcel (Hechos 16:16-34) vino a mi mente.  Estos discípulos fueron arrestados y golpeados por ayudar a una esclava; aun así, se las arreglaron para orar, cantar y predicar, entonces, ¿por qué me quejo?

Sabemos que los problemas, las dificultades y enfermedades son parte de la vida. Aunque somos salvos y vivimos en Cristo, nos desanimamos fácilmente cuando suceden cosas malas.  La Biblia nos enseña a no perder la paciencia y confiar en Dios.  Entonces, ¿por qué nos desviamos tan fácilmente del camino de Dios?  Sencillo, porque vivimos en un mundo malvado y un cuerpo pecaminoso que nos empuja a preocuparnos y dudar.  Pablo dice: “No es que ya lo haya conseguido todo o que ya sea perfecto.  Sin embargo, sigo adelante esperando alcanzar aquello para lo cual Cristo Jesús me alcanzó a mí.” Filipenses 3:12 (NVI)

A veces me siento un poco hipócrita, necesitando del mismo consejo que estoy dando, pero no creo que Dios lo vea así en absoluto.  Él sabe que incluso cuando creemos en Su Palabra, a veces no nos aferramos a ella con tanta firmeza como deberíamos.  ¡Filipenses 3:12 me da esperanza!

Mientras estuve en el hospital, hice lo mejor que pude.  A medida que me recuperaba, tuve la oportunidad de mostrar videos de nuestro grupo de adoración y hablar de lo que Dios ha hecho en mí. ¡Incluso regalé libros devocionales!  Hacer esto me dio alegría y cambió mi perspectiva durante este “tiempo difícil”.

Amigos, sigan compartiendo a Cristo, usen Sus palabras para aconsejar y consolar porque Él es el mejor regalo que tenemos para ofrecer.  Sí, nos vamos a equivocar, pero está bien, siempre y cuando no dejemos de buscar a Dios.

Oración: Señor, Tú sabes que no somos perfectos.  Sigue trabajando en nuestras heridas y cicatrices de batalla.  Ayúdanos a vivir una vida conforme a Ti, en victoria por medio de Cristo.  Amén.
