Spring 2018
Pat Moran
(now deceased):
Accept what is. Let go of what
was. Have faith in what will be. My new mantra. I think of my precious
Daz
every day—but the tears just won't come. I've used up all my tears. The well
is dry! My progress is being measured not in miles, yards or feet, but in
inches! I have to, and am moving forward. Thank you '52ers for letting me
share my grief.
On to other news. See
Bill
Erdman for his latest update.
Dick Schmidt
(deceased) (Mesa, Ariz.) emails
that his son, Curt Schmidt '75, represented our '52 class by welcoming incoming
freshmen to the Lehigh Family Class of 2021!
Bill Murray
(deceased) calls often from
Texas. He wants the class to know that he is still alive and "almost well."
All of us in the aches and pains brigade push on! The Golden Years, indeed.
Paul Walton (Tucson, Ariz.)
celebrated his 90th birthday. Congrats
Paul for getting so far, so fast!
David Garden (deceased)
(St Helena, CA)
writes that slowing down (at 87) is not a great thing, but better than the
alternative. He and Nancy have been married 65 years, have five children, five
grandchildren and one 4 year-old great-grandson. The subtle but unspoken
message was that love, hard work and a little luck can make for a wonderful
life. Thanks,
Dave, for your inspiration.
Ed Melkmann, an attorney in New
York City, lost his wife, Virginia, 18 months ago, and he sent along a tribute
(he found it in her papers) to those of us who have lost a loved one. A poem
titled "Remember Me."
"To the living, I am gone. To
the sorrowful, I will never return. To the angry, I was cheated. But to the
happy, I am at peace. And to the faithful, I have never left. I cannot be
seen, but I can be heard. So as you stand upon a shore, gazing at a beautiful
sea—remember me. As you look in awe at a mighty forest and its grand
majesty—remember me. As you look upon a flower and admire its
simplicity—remember me. Remember me in your heart, your thoughts, your memories
of the times we loved, the times we cried, the times we fought, the times we
laughed. For if you always think of me, I will never be gone."—Anonymous
Good luck and good cheer '52ers. Let me continue to hear
from you. "Pat”
