Spring 2006

Pat Moran (now deceased):

Hi, '52ers!

When last we spoke, I was recuperating from triple bypass (May 2005).  Now I'm doing very well.  I've been deluged with cards, letters, emails, and phone calls and, believe me, that's truly heartwarming.  Pun intended! Don Green '54 sent a very nice Christmas card, as did Mayo (deceased) and Betsy Snyder , who took a Lehigh trip to Sicily.  Fred Kieshauer (deceased) and wife, Tess, are celebrating 20 years in North Myrtle Beach.  They are active in church work, mobile meals, and helping hands.  Dick Gordon (deceased) has lived in Jupiter, Fla., since 1989, does a lot of boating and fishing, and is very active with Florida Atlantic University.

My Arizona buddy, Dick Schmidt (deceased), e‑mailed his concern for my health and says he has his own courier service and is driving 250 miles a day just in greater Phoenix.  Norm Wellen (deceased) sent his best and said that if our parents lived to 85, we should allow for inflation and live to 115.  Ivan Park, Brookfield, Conn., wrote a wonderful letter detailing an almost identical coronary episode of his own about three years ago, complete with "alarm," angiogram, triple bypass, and rehab, and is now feeling great.  Ivan, back to work as an architectural designer, is very active in the renaissance of downtown Brookfield into a "New England Village."  Thanks, Ivan, for a great update.

A nice note arrived in the New Year from Randy Zehner (deceased), along with bios of our Class of 1952 Scholarship recipients.  We have two recipients this year, Raymond G. Lahoud '06, Easton, Pa., and Marissa K. lannarone '06, North Caldwell, N.J.  Both sent warm letters of thanks for the opportunity to study at Lehigh, which may not have been possible without the financial help of our class.  Raymond graduated with highest honors and will attend law school.  Marissa graduated with higher honors, is captain of the field hockey team, and made first‑team All Patriot League.  They are two truly impressive Lehigh students.

I have so much more to report, but it will have to wait until the next edition.  Thanks for your get well wishes for my continued recovery, and for keeping in touch with our great Class of !952.
