Fall 2006

Pat Moran (now deceased):

Hola, '52ers!  Let me see ... it's early May, it's 93 degrees and the cold water tap is running lukewarm, so I must be in Tucson, Ariz.  Remember, though: It's a "dry heat."  Yeah, sure!  The golf courses are empty; the restaurants are empty; the movies are empty.  That's the Tucson I love.  Be gone, Snow Birds!

Note ‑ In less than a year we will be in Bethlehem, celebrating our 55th Reunion.  DAZ and I will be there, so make your plans early.

Recently, I was scanning the Lehigh sports Web site and who did I see honored but Marissa Ianarone '06. Marissa, you may remember, is one of the current recipients of the Class of 1952 Scholarship and quite an outstanding young woman: First‑Team All‑Patriot League Field Hockey, Dean's List, Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, and now the recipient of the Outstanding Athlete Award in the Lehigh Valley.

From St. Helena, Calif., I received a news), letter from David Alexander Garden (deceased).  David, who came to Lehigh from St. Helena, says he's still married "to the same girl, Nancy Huff," he found in Bethlehem in 1950.  They live quietly on a thousand acre ranch.  The Gardens have a granddaughter, Amy '09, at Lehigh on a soccer scholarship.  Amy is excelling in her studies and loves Lehigh.

In early May, Frank Sgarnbelluri (deceased) and wife Barbara visited us here in Tucson.  They were here about six years ago and are welcome guests.  We visited the Arizona‑Sonora Desert Museum, Kartchner Caverns State Park and listened to mariachi music at a local Mexican bistro.  A fun time for all.  Frank and Barbara live in Stroudsburg, Pa., and maintain a summer home in Seaside Park, NJ.  They are extensive travelers:  Ireland in 2002 with Bob Flynn (deceased) and wife Anne '74 M.Ed., Holland / Belgium in 2004, and Italy in 2005, where they attended cooking school and visited Frank's relatives.

Let me know where you've been recently so we can share it with the class.
