Spring 2017
 Reunion: May 19-22, 2017

Pat Moran (now deceased):

Hi '52ers.  In my last column, I told you of the passing of my beloved Daz.  The outpouring of support and solace was truly remarkable.  I heard from classmates and friends from all over the land—email, snail mail and phone calls—some I hadn't seen or talked to in 60 years!  I soon learned that many people loved Daz as much as I do.  Those who offered comfort included Dick Schmidt (deceased), Bill Murray (deceased) and John Kerr (deceased) my former Sigma Nu roommate.  John mentioned that when we met in September 1948 we found out we were born three days apart in July 1930 in the same New Jersey hospital!

Johnson "Jack" Blake (deceased) called twice from Johns Island, S.C.  There were many more calls of support which will have to wait for the next column.

We have lost some great classmates in 2016: Bob McCann, Chuck Adams, Jack Moran and Mayo Snyder (I will do a complete report on Mayo in my next edition).  My sincere condolences to all the families.

A great shout-out and thank you to Wally Field for being my host for 10 days in November in Lehigh Land.  We saw the Fordham and Bucknell victories and the winning of the Patriot League title.

See you next time, be safe, let me hear from you!

I will conclude with the following poem as another tribute to my beloved Daz.

"To those whom I love, and those who love me,
When I am gone, release me, let me go.
I have so many things to see and do,
You must not tie yourself to me with tears.
Be happy that I have had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave me in happiness.
I thank you for the love each have shown
But now it's time I traveled on alone.
So, grieve a while for me, if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It is only for a while that we must part,
So bless the memories in your heart.
I will not be far away, for life goes on,
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you cannot see me or touch me, I will be near,
And if you listen with your heart, you will hear,
All of my love around you, soft and clear.
Then when you must come this way alone,
I will greet you with a smile and a welcome home."
