Winter 2006

Pat Moran (now deceased):

Hola, '52ers! The last time we spoke your correspondent had just come through triple bypass.  Now, I am happy to report that I am doing fine.  In fact, I was half of the winning team in a local golf tournament in early September.  I still get tired, but I do rest as required . My wife, Daz, has me on a rigid deep‑water rehab program.  Due to her diligence, I am probably in better shape now than I was at 40!

Joan Andrews, who retired in September, will be missed by everyone connected with the class columns.  Joan was very helpful and upbeat‑always a joy to work with.  Happy retirement, Joan.  And let's not forget to wish our new class columns editor, Jennifer Hunt, the best of luck in her new position.

The recipient of the Class of 1952 Scholarship for 2006 is Marissa lannarone, a starter on the field hockey team, with a GPA of 3.86 in finance.  Great record, Marissa.  Keep it up.

A wonderful letter came in from Bob Flynn (deceased).  He and his wife, Anne, have stayed in the Lehigh area since graduation.  Both retired in 1996, Bob from sales management and Anne from teaching.  Bob and Anne enjoy golf, travel, gardening, and volunteer work.  Bob's pet project is serving as an advisor to the Lehigh Valley Agency on the Aging.  He also serves on the Senior Alumni Council and volunteers at the Admissions Office desk with Chick Kuss and Randy Zehner (deceased).  Thanks, Bob, for taking the time to send me a great letter.  Good luck to you.

Received a note from Ed Leidheiser (deceased), who has become my best contributor.  Ed and Mary Lou spent winter '04‑'05 in Florida, where they touched base with Sue Ann and Ralph Fortney and Ann and Bob McCann (deceased).  Ed keeps in touch with Wil Wilbern (deceased).

I'll put the lid on this entry with:  My recent brush with mortality reinforces my feeling that our Class of 1952 is special, that our lives are special and that we should stay in touch with each other.  Why not drop me a line?
