Fall 2014
Pat Moran

WebMaster's
Note: This is an update of the missing Fall Class Letter.
June 2014 Class Notes:
Lehigh
Valley to Panther Valley to Long Valley to Prescott Valley – the
Morans are on the
move! Yes, DAZ and I have moved to Prescott Valley, AZ, located in the
northwest section of the state. It is high chaparral country, grasslands, horse
and cattle ranches. We are 5100 feet above sea level, nearly as high as
Denver. Our new neighbors and townspeople are extremely friendly and the
universal reply when we say that we are new to the area is “You are going to
love it here.” There is great energy, the people are conservative (many flags
flying) and the folks are “proud to be American.” That in itself is
refreshing. We are looking forward to new vistas and new adventures.
Dick Schmidt
(deceased) and Carolyn are very proud to announce that their son,
Curt, Lehigh class of 1975, has been elected to the Board of Directors of
the Lehigh Alumni Association.
Bill Erdman
and Kay write that they are healthy and keep moving, just at a slower
pace. They love to travel in their Odyssey, as they will do this summer of 2014
for three months. “Camp, hike and bike” is the Erdman style. Thanks,
guys, for a good update.
Some obits
came to my attention:
Bob
Youry, per the UVA alumni magazine (Bob was a graduate of the University
of Virginia Law School); Susan Paules, wife of
Charlie Paules,
passed away in Hilton Head, SC. The Class sends its sincerest condolences to
the Youry and Paules families. Thanks to
Gordon
Maxson (deceased) for the
Youry alert and to
Pete Shaw
(deceased) for the Paules information.
Let us
shout out a welcome aboard to our new alumni contact, Diana Skowronski,
whose title is Assistant Director Volunteer Engagement. Also, good luck and God
speed to departing alumni contact, Jessi McMullan, Lehigh Class of 2005,
with many thanks for her great help.
Thanks,
Classmates. Let me hear from you. You make this column possible.
October 2014 Class Notes:
With the
aspens turning to gold and the maples to red, Heaven is quite close to the
central highlands of Arizona. DAZ and I love our new home, approximately
equidistant between Phoenix and Flagstaff. The neighbors are friendly, and they
stop and chat on their walks or wave (with all their fingers) on their
drive-bys. Now, almost to November, the temps are still 70-80 during the day
and high 30s to low 40s at night. What could top that? The skies are either
blue wall-to-wall, no clouds, or clouds that look like so much whipped cream.
The sunsets are awe-inspiring. A paradise, to be sure.
Alas,
classmates, our new home is not what this column is all about. It is really
about the Class of 1952, but there is little news to report. I need your
communication. Please let me know what is happening in YOUR lives.
The Alumni
Office and Ralph
Fortney seem to have “lost”
Joe Paquin
(deceased),
Sigma Nu 1952. Anyone with information on him,
please contact me.
Bob
Hoyt spent some time with Betsey and
Mayo Snyder
(deceased)
at
their home overlooking the lake in Cooperstown, NY.
Mayo
and
Bob
grew up
together in Plainfield, NJ.
Bob
also visited
with John Seville
in Lancaster, PA in June, 2014 prior to spending the summer on Nantucket boating
and cycling. Thanks,
Bob,
for keeping us up to date.
That’s it,
‘52’ers. Let me hear from you.
