Walking Faithfully With God

Scripture: Genesis 6:9 (NIV) – “This is the account of Noah and his family.  Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.”

Genesis 6:22 (NIV) – “Noah did everything just as God commanded him.”

Message: Noah walked faithfully with God, and listened to God.  Noah was committed to God, and he persevered for the long-haul.  “Noah did everything just as God commanded him.” (Genesis 6:22).  Hmm; how is my walk with God and my commitment to God?  Am I walking faithfully with God?  Life is full, life can be busy/messy.  I can get wrapped up in “selfie world” and zoom through the morning which turns into the day, without walking hand in hand with God.  Lately, I’ve gotten out of the habit of inviting God into my day, sitting with Him, listening for His voice.

Over the last two years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to walk two Caminos.  Camino is the Spanish word for “way”, “path”, “road”.  The Caminos which I walked are spiritual journeys through parts of Europe.  While on each Camino, I was immersed in God’s beauty, following the “way” – the word that early Christians used for following Jesus.  Every day I was literally walking with God.  As I headed out to walk/hike 10 to 15 miles, I started my day with, “Good morning God, show me what You want me to see, and tell me what You want me to hear.”  I was walking, listening, and talking to God.  Such intimacy, such insights; accepting God‘s amazing grace throughout the journey.  Luckily, I was never told to build a boat, but I certainly heard His prompting, His call to action, to serve, to remember to share, and to be His hands and feet.

This Advent season I yearn to stop the rat race and walk faithfully with God, the One who loves us unconditionally; the One who created you and me.  It is my desire to please God, to listen to God continually, or at least daily, and surrender my will to His.

Prayer: Awesome, powerful, loving God, thank You for loving us so much.  Thank You for protecting us, in spite of ourselves.  As we anticipate the birth of the greatest gift ever – Your Son, Jesus Christ, the light of the world, empower and infuse us with Your love and light so that we walk faithfully with You.  Amen.
