I am the master of my fate:'
I am the captain of my soul.
GAA 1, 2, 3, 4; Latin Choir 2; Tri Hi Y 4; Annual Staff 3, 4; L Hi News 3, 4; Honor Group 1, 2, 3; Class Officer 2; Thespians 3, 4; Class Play 3.
Yikes! I can't believe I'
haven't added any news in more than a year - I certainly haven't gotten
any older! Maybe I should amend that and say, "I don't feel any
older." Bill and I are still communicating with each other
on a active level although after 65 years of marriage a lot is
commutated without actually saying anything verbally.
Health is not 100% but is very
good with the exception of a bad knee replacement some years ago that
wasn't up to par. Walking a long distance is difficult but we
manage. Neither of us can drive safely now so we are experimenting
with in-home health care instead of moving to a retirement facility.
This allows us to enjoy our home and regulate caregivers to our existing
needs rather than have caregivers regulating their support according to
their needs. In other words, we get individual care when we need
it rather than sharing their time with others in need. Experience
being caregivers with several relatives over the years taught us that
even the best facility can't provide adequate individual care.
Stay healthy and safe and let us
know how you are doing during the miss-named "Golden Years." - April
2023
I can't believe I'm one of only
20 classmates left! Seems like eons ago we were all starting out
on our journey to notoriety. I'm still on the journey except I'm
not as enthusiastic now. So far Bill and I have escaped the
COVID scourge. Hope all is well with anyone that reads this far. -
February, 2022.
My thanks to
Gus Cook and his frequent updates.
It is nice to hear from our Classmates occasionally. Bill
and I are behaving ourselves as we hide from COVID-19 behind masks and
vaccines. We did spend the 4th in Michigan celebrating a
granddaughter's wedding. It was great getting away from home but
could have done without the airline hassle. Have noticed that we
are slowing down a wee bit - I'm having a slight mobility problem but
still manage to teach Sunday classes via Zoom every week. You all
stay healthy - July 2021.
I'm like the Energizer Bunny,
still active and happy with life. Husband, Bill, and I
are still traveling the country side visiting kids and grandkids (CA,
MI. NC. TX). Latest trip was a camping (Tent), biking (Bicycle)
driving (Hit 225,000 miles on our van) out West. We are slower now
but enjoying life more. - 2015
Graduated from Franklin College, BS in Medical Technology, Magna Cum Laude Senior Lab Technologist, Ely Lilly & Company, Indianapolis
Married Bill Erdman and moved to Jackson, Michigan. Had 4 children in 5 years -
Karen, twins Dave & Don & Tom.
Moved to Maitland, Florida. Have 7 grandchildren spread all over the country - California, Michigan, North Carolina and Washington state.
Enjoy traveling anywhere, any time. Love the Lord

2016 - doing well after a knee

I’m good, walk most days and take
care of my home. Have two sons / families nearby, 7 great grandchildren
here and 12 in Indiana, Lawrenceburg, Warsaw and Spencer Indiana areas.
Gus - February 2022
Gus lost his wonderful wife,
Carole, this January, 2018.
I’ve had two wonderful wives, five sons (
one passed in 2013 ), nine grandchildren ( one boy) and so far 18 great
grandchildren. Have two sons and wives very near, with three grand
daughters and husbands and six grandchildren also close. I still get
lonesome but have a crazy cat, big home on a beautiful 30 acre lake that
the neighborhood shares, and adequate funds for an old tightwad. Very
fortunate to have good health, walk 2 miles on nearby streets about
every day. Enjoy my iPad and my yard. Gus - July (2) 2021
Last month I was in Lawrenceburg and in
talking to Bud Stryker found out that
Wanita Meyer had passed a few
years ago, he lives near her old home on Ludlow Hill. I believe that
Tom Walter and
Eddie Dolan*
are still alive, think both live in Ohio, separate towns but can’t be
certain.
I am well, try to walk 2 miles every day to
keep going, weigh about 155, lot lighter than use to. Now have 18 great
grandchildren, 6 girls, 12 boys. Three are Cooks, two of these
adopted, girl and boy, the last little girl is the youngest is my
grandson’s and his lovely wife, she is named after my first wife,
Natalie. That’s all. Gus - July (1) 2021
Gus, I'm not sure about "Tom" as I
remember him as "Albert."
"Gus" is still alive and
kicking as he sends me obituaries every so often however he never sends
updates on his life.
Carol and I are retired, living in Georgia on a 30 acre
lake north of Marrietta. If you drive up I-75 north of Atlanta,
we are only a short distance off the highway. I retired in 1992.
Kay, March 2015
Life has been pretty tough the past two plus years - my wife passed on in November after being very seriously ill for two years.
I graduated from Purdue in Engineering in 1956. I worked in the atomic energy field early, then with Schenley distillers for a few years. I worked for Chevron Corp for almost 25 years before retiring in 1992.
We have 5 sons and 9 grandchildren. Last month I purchased a small house on Probasco St. in Greendale and plan on spending time there, closer to my Indiana grandchildren.
I have "doctored" up a picture taken about 2 plus years ago.

I retired from American Electric Power (I&M) in 1996. I keep busy by volunteering at several local organizations including Big Brothers / Big Sisters. I also enjoy oil painting and keeping fit regularly at the YWCA.
As far as I know now we would be coming to the reunion, although there may be a schedule conflict. Our grandson will be graduating from boot camp sometime in August at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and we would want to go to that.

writes: I forgot where I left off with my last news from 2002. My
husband, George, died in 2013. I have been living alone with my
significant other, Bella. She is a Maltese (about 20 pounds).
She is quirky, but I love her. She keeps me company.
I stopped working when I was
70 years old. I had numerous jobs as an RN. Too numerous to count.
Since retirement, I moved from Cincinnati to Florida and back to
Cincinnati. Florida had too many snakes and bugs for my taste. I,
presently, live in a typical ranch in the Eastgate area of Clermont
County. The yard work is too much for me, so I am planning to move to a
condo. I am not yet ready for an extended care facility. I live
approximately 15 minutes from my daughter, my son, my 3 children, my 5
grandchildren, and my 8 great-grandchildren.
I have spoken with Margie
(Schmidt) Smith. Her sister married
Gene Gompf. They live in Ft.
Wayne, IN.
Guess that's enough for now.
- June 2018
I graduated from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. I was married to
Val Jacobs for 16 years. We had 3 kids, Todd, Valerie, and
Tiffany. Unfortunately, Tiffany died in 1985.
I married my second husband,
George MacDougall 21 years ago. He is retired from national sales for the paper industry. He knows no such thing as being a beer drinking TV hound. He is always busy.
I graduated
from Thomas More College in 1981. I am still working (about half
time) as a medical case manager for Worker's Comp cases in KY. I
am not a very good sitter, so working suits my life style. My 2
children and 5 grandchildren live about 15 minutes from me, so I see
them often.
Have lots of reliving at the reunion. I will probably be able to attend the school tour. - August 2002 |

Jane Miller Schorr Remembers
I met Jim Orientation Week my freshman year at Purdue. He was there early with roommate,
Jack Runyan, for basketball practice. Jim had his Dad’s car there for the week.
Jim said to Jack, "Isn’t that girl from Lawrenceburg?" They stopped and offered us a ride to our dorm and that was the beginning of what is now fifty years together.
We have four children. Our only daughter,
Jenny, is married and has a daughter. They live in Ft Lauderdale. Our oldest son,
Dan, is married and has three daughters. They live in Atlanta. Our son,
Andrew, is a bachelor and lives in Chicago. Our youngest son,
Tom, is married and has our only grandson. They live in Charlotte, NC.
All of the adults in the family have gone to Purdue except son-in-law
Brad who went to Indiana.
We have moved many times in our married life, starting in Bloomington, Indiana, for graduate business school for
Jim; beautiful Anniston, Alabama, for ROTC Army duty; in and out of Midland, MI for Dow Chemical; to the Netherlands and Miami, Fl. Our last move was in 1981 when we went to Barr, IL, where we now live May to November and the rest of the year in Naples, FL.
My hobbies are flower gardening, orchid growing and travel.
Special thanks to those who organized the reunion. It was great to see all of you again after all these years.

After graduation I worked for the Lawrenceburg
Press until Mar 1953 when
George Weamire and I joined the Air
Force. After four years I returned to Lawrenceburg expecting to spend
the rest of my life there but was unable to find a job so in Sept 1957,
I reenlisted and spent the next 22 years in the AF.
Didn't want to endure any more winters so I retired to Mesa Arizona in
Sept 1979 and have been here ever since. Married Ethel Marie Mendell
from Aurora in Dec 1957, we had 3 boys and are still together. Have
visited 13 foreign countries and 45 states but got tired of travelling
so just stay close to home now. Have worked for the Postal Service
since Sept 1981 and have no desire to retire. That's about all. Don
