Once For
All1 |
|
Scripture:
1 Peter 3:18a
(RSV) – “For Christ also died for sins once for all,
the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us
to God,” (bolded for emphasis).
Message:
Jesus
died one time for all sin and for all people who accept His gift
of grace and forgiveness.
Once for
all, Lord, you paid the price,
Made the sacrifice, I’m forgiven!
Once for all you went to Calvary,
Hung upon that tree, I’m forgiven.
Though unworthy as I am,
On the cross you bore my sin,
And I’m forgiven!
A thief
that hung there with you
Said “Jesus remember me.”
And in your deep compassion
You said, “Today, you’ll be with me.”
Long ago,
you tore the veil from me,
So that I could see, I’m forgiven!
And I know, when life is over here,
I don’t have to fear, I’ll go on living.
I have eternal life today.
Once for all, you made a way,
Now I’m forgiven! Yes, I’m forgiven,
Once for all, forgiven.1
Prayer:
Thank you, Father, that You gave Your Son to die one time for
all of my sins, past, present and future, so that I can be
forgiven and dwell in Your presence forever. Amen.

Scripture:
2 Corinthians 5:21
(NIV) – “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in
him we might become the righteousness of God.”
Message:
Jesus did all that was necessary for us to be freed from our sins.
As
Jesus carried out the plan of God
Many years ago,
It was enough to show God’s mercy
For man’s soul.
It was enough that just a word from Him
Could make the crippled stand,
And He spoke forgiveness to the sinful man.
When He rode
toward Jerusalem
The people shouted “King.”
They looked forward to the freedom
He would bring.
It was enough that He brought hope and joy
o the hearts of man.
Hardly seemed the cross could be part of the plan.
But then the
mood began to change
And trouble came to be.
Within a week those busy streets
Lead Him to Calvary.
There they
hung the man that they called “King”
Up on a cruel cross,
And it seemed the hope he’d offered would be lost.
But the crown of thorns upon His head
Really crowned the King.
They didn’t know the kind of freedom He would bring.
The bondage
of a sinful life,
A hateful attitude,
The coldness of indifference,
Or the life that needs renewed,
These are the reasons that He bled and died
That day at Calvary,
It was enough,
It was enough to set us free.1
Prayer: Thank You Lord, for dying for my sins and
freeing me from the bondage and separation from You that sin brings.
Amen.

Scripture:
1 Peter 1:3 (NIV) – “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth, into a
living hope, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
dead.”
Message:
Away in
a manger a baby was laid
A humble beginning, We’d say.
Mary and Joseph knew this was God’s child.
So strange to start life here that way.
In a
manger where normally cattle would feed,
This, tiny one slept in the night.
One day He would grow up and see our great need.
For us He would give up His life.
And I
thank You Father, Your love was revealed
When our Savior was born in the hay.
Who could have imagined what mercy You gave
Away in a manger that day.
Away in
a manger where this baby lay,
Who knew the price He would pay?
The Father had sent down His very own Son
So the hearts of mankind might be won.
In a
manger was lying the King of all Kings.
Wise men would worship His birth.
Led by a star, they brought treasure to Him,
Revealing they knew His great worth.
Away on
a hill side we call Calvary,
Jesus had become a man.
We needed a Savior, He hung on the tree,
He did this to honor God’s plan.
And I
thank You Father, Your love was revealed
When our Savior came to this earth.
Today, we bring our gift of worship to Him,
Revealing we know His great worth.
Yes, I
thank you, Father, Your love was revealed
When our Savior was born in the hay.
Who could have imagined what mercy you gave,
Away in a manger that day.1
Prayer:
Dear
Lord, thank You for the mercy You showed to us when Jesus was born
in a manger. Amen.

Scriptures:
2 Corinthians12:9 (NIV) – “My grace is sufficient for you, for
my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Matthew 4:19 (NIV) – “Come, follow me,” Jesus
said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
Acts 16:29-31 (NIV) – “The jailer called for lights,
rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought
them out and asked, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ They
replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and
your household.’”
Message:
When
the angel came to Mary
And told her of the Savior’s birth
She must have marveled at the wonder
Of why God had chosen her.
She was just a young woman
From a family of humble means.
Why would the God of all creation
Choose her as mother of our King?
The disciples were ordinary
Among the people that day.
But they saw God’s love in Jesus
When He passed by their way.
They followed when He called them.
He gave a special job to them.
To spread His love and gracious mercy,
That’s why today we can know Him.
I’d like to know how many people
The jailer led to Christ,
After Paul and Silas told him
He could have eternal life.
I’m sure he and his family
Must have passed the message on,
And told their friends and neighbors
About God’s risen Son.
God uses ordinary
Today like He did then,
To spread His message of salvation
So we can be freed from our sin.
Don’t underestimate the power
In ordinary you.
When you share the love of Jesus,
Others may come to know Him too.1
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank You for giving me the ability to serve You through
the power of Your Holy Spirit living in me. Amen.
