Scriptures:
Romans 5:1-2 (ESV) – “Therefore, since we have been justified by
faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Through him we also obtained access by faith into this grace in
which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
Hebrews 11:1-3, 6
(ESV) – “Now faith is the assurance of things
hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people
of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the
universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was
not made out of things that are visible.” “And without faith it is
impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must
believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
Message:
As we celebrate the Advent of our Savior, we remember the hope,
peace, joy, and love that we receive through His coming. It is
important to remember that we can only know these aspects of His
Advent because of faith. We can see from this passage in Romans
that Paul experienced peace because of faith. Paul also mentions
that his hope and access to grace comes from the faith that he has
in Christ. As we light our love candle and reflect on the glory of
the Advent of Christ, let us also grow in our faith in Him. Hebrews
11:6 tells us that it is impossible to please God without faith in
Him. We love Him because He first loved us, and He calls us to love
others.
Prayer:
God, I thank You for sending Your Son to take on flesh so that we
can have hope, peace, joy, and love through Him. I ask You to
strengthen my faith as I celebrate His Advent. I ask that my heart
be filled with hope, peace, joy and love that can only come through
faith in Jesus. Amen
