Gordon
Maxson (deceased)
updates
us on
Wil Wilbern's
(deceased)
condition.
Gordon
visited
Will
in
Newport
News
in
August.
Will
looked
great,
but
his
left
arm
and
leg
are
paralyzed.
He is
getting
around
in a
wheelchair
and
his
spirits
are
high.
Good
luck,
Will,
you
are
in
our
thoughts.
Will's
phone
number
is
(757)
833-1128
and
cell
(716)
628-6530.
I
speak
periodically
with
Dick Schmidt
(deceased),
my
Arizona
neighbor,
and
he
gave
me a
treasure
trove
of DU
information.
Charlie
Paules
(deceased)
has
been
in
Hilton
Head
for
nine
summers,
and
2003
was
the
hottest
yet.
Charlie
and
his
wife,
Susan,
did
get
away
in
May
2003
for a
cruise
from
Lisbon
to
Rome,
with
stops
on
the
way.
Pete Shaw
(deceased)
writes
a
long,
newsy
e-mail
outlining
his
wife,
Dotsie's,
involvement
with
the
Presbyterian
Women
Global
Exchange,
which
takes
her
on
speaking
engagements
to
the
northeastern
states
where
she
presents
the
highlights
of
her
two-week
trips
to
Ghana
and
Kenya
in
October
2002.
On
the
Albany
visit,
the
Shaws
stayed
with
Betsey
and
Mayo
Snyder (deceased).
Don Moodie
(deceased)
remarried
in
May
'02,
is
living
happily
in
Wolfeboro,
N.H.,
and
still
owns
his
company
in
Nashua,
N.H.
Bill Smith
(deceased)
e-mailed
that
the
Fordham
game
was a
"lousy-weather/
great
game"
kind
of
day.
Bill
saw
Ruestow
(deceased)
,
Kuss,
Levan,
Sgambelluri
(deceased),
and
Flynn
(deceased),
stalwarts
all.
By
the
time
this
column
reaches
you,
the
football
season
will
be
long
over;
but
at
this
writing,
four
games,
three
victories
is a
solid
start!
William
Skillman
of
Linthicum,
Md.,
retired
engineer
at
Westinghouse
(Baltimore,
Md.),
has
been
named
2003
recipient
of
the
IEEE
D. J.
Picard
Medal
for
Radar
Technologies
and
Applications.
Bill
was
honored
for
his
pioneering
work
in
pulse
Doppler
radar
design,
including
advances
in
the
Airborne
Warning
and
Control
System.
The
AWACS
is
considered
one
of
the
most
effective
air
surveillance
tools
and
is
used
the
world
over.
I
know
we
can
be
proud
of
Lehigh's
ranking
in a
recent
U.S.
News
&
World
Report
magazine.
Lehigh
was
in
the
top
15
percent
of
all
universities
and
achieved
a top
ranking
as to
graduating
scholar
/
athletes.
Lehigh
continues
to
excel
as an
institution
for
all
seasons.
There
is
plenty
more
to
report,
but
we
will
have
to
wait
until
next
time.
Thanks
and
Happy
New
Year.
