On Saturday, January 20th, along with Jack Platt ’53 and his wife
Julie, went to Grace Hall to watch Lehigh defeat Navy for the 55th time in a
series that goes back to 1910. This was the 104th meeting. Lehigh is
Navy's longest rival. Wish that I had more to report, but my Lehigh
contact is a bare minimum. Still walking unaided on my own two feet with
no artificial joints, no hearing aids, just 2 pills a day. I count my
Blessings.
Dementia is a sneaky menace. My wife Kay is suffering with
event-related dementia and I am her caregiver. What happens when
the caregiver (me) starts getting forgetful? Easy answer: He
remembers an old song and starts singing; Boom, boom, ain't it great
to be crazy? One stanza I remember is:
Boom, boom, ain't it great to be crazy.
Giddy and foolish the whole day through
Boom, boom, ain't it great to be crazy.
Way down South where the bananas grow
a flea stepped on an elephant's toe.
the elephant cried, with tears in his eyes,
"Why don't you pick on someone your own size?"
I think, in my case, that 93 ½ is the
knee in MY dementia curve. It is all downhill from now on!

when your correspondent doesn't hear from anyone but Bob Hoyt between
issues! I hate white spaces in our column so have to write something.
