Lenten Path

Scripture: Mark1:15 (NCV) - "He sad 'The right time has come. The kingdom of God is near. Change your hearts and lives and believe the Good News!'"

Message: The word "Lent" is related to the forty days that will lead us until Easter. The number "4" or "40" appears several times in the Bible and always has the symbolism of a long and tiring path towards a freer and fuller life. Let us remember the 40 years that the people of Israel walked through the desert, the 40 days the prophet Elijah walked towards the mountain of God, and the 40 days Jesus fasted in the desert.

Lent is the time of conversion. What does conversion" mean? It means changing our life by recognizing the negative aspects of our life, which does not correspond to the value of through which God created us as human beings. It is to give it a new orientation to our life so that the Gospel is lived more clearly by all of us. In Lent, God constantly invites us to return to Him with all our hearts and with all our souls. He invites us to examine our lives to gradually remove what is not in accordance with what it means to be Christian so that we are more able to walk and progress on the path to holiness.

Lent is a time of service to our neighbor, to those who are weak and needy, but it is also the time to make amends to those we have offended. This is the appropriate time to express solidarity and share our gifts and goods. It is the time to bring the Kingdom of God near.

Prayer: Lord, Almighty and Good God, may Your Grace always accompany us on the path of life, may we overcome the temptations that we encounter at every step, may we have the courage to reject and overcome them. Today we welcome Your Word, which is Life, with immense gratitude. In Christ our Lord. Amen.
