Remaining In The Vine

Scripture: John 15:1-4 (NIV) - "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me."

Message:

Connected To The Vine Of Christ1

We must stay connected
To the vine of Jesus Christ,
The very source of our faith
And the meaning of our lives

For we will produce much fruit
As we draw from the vine
The nourishment of the Lord,
Which feeds our souls and minds

But if we fail to stay
Connected to the Lord
And abide in His promises
We long ago were taught

Then we will be cut off
Unable to produce
The lasting and abundant fruit
That God so longs to use

For the Lord wants us to be
Reflecting Jesus Christ
So the world will clearly see
The love of God inside

We need to allow the Lord
To take our branches and prune
The part that's become withered
So we'll continue to bloom

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us remember that God always cares for us. Even when we get entangled in our own messy lives then He will trim our branches and, as we continue to grow He will never forsake us. Remind us that we cannot proclaim You as our Savior and Redeemer if we disconnect from You, our Vine. Help us connect to You always, even when we don't deserve it or feel like it. Amen.

Redeemed

Scriptures: Isaiah 44:22 (NIV) - "I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you."

2 Peter 3:9 (NIV) - "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."

Message: Over 2,000 years ago Christ was born - Immanuel, God with us! Then some 30 years later Christ died on that old rugged cross for me! Joy to the world, Christ was born, Christ was crucified, Christ was resurrected to redeem me. He lives, He lives in me!

Jesus has been a friend and my Savior since I was a youth. I went to Church Sunday, School and Bible School where I learned of His love for me. I sang in the Youth Choir and later on in the Senior Choir. I was Presbyterian Youth of the Year in 1962.

All of my life I have followed Jesus. In 1963 I gave my life to Christ at a Billy Graham Crusade in Omaha, Nebraska. I've been through many difficult times and each time He has seen me through it all. I pray to Him before bed and the first thing I do each morning. With His help I have had thirty nine continuous years of sobriety (and I can't do this alone).

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. I know He lives.

God will always and forever be my Father; and I know He accepts me - just as I am.

Thank goodness we had Christ's birth, crucifixion and resurrection. He came, He went and yet, He remains and lives in my life forever. He lives and because He lives I am redeemed and am assured that I can face tomorrow!

I am a very grateful Christian who loves my God more than ever!

Today, I still sing in a Senior Choir through which I continue to praise Him!

Prayer: Father, thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus at Christmastime who redeemed me through the power of His resurrection. All praise to You, Father, Son and Holy Spirit! Amen.
