Scriptures:
Mark 11:24
(NKJV) - "Therefore I say to you, whatever
things you ask when you pray, believe that you
receive them, and you will have them."
Ezekiel 37:1-9 (NIV) – "The hand of
the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the
Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a
valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and
forth among them, and I saw a great many bones
on the floor of the valley, bones that were very
dry. He asked me, 'Son of man, can these bones
live?' I said, 'Sovereign Lord, you alone know.'
Then he said to me, 'Prophesy to these bones and
say to them, "Dry bones, hear the word of
the Lord. This is what the Sovereign Lord says
to these bones: I will make breath enter you,
and you will come to life. I will attach tendons
to you and make flesh come upon you and cover
you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you
will come to life. Then you will know that I am
the Lord.” So I prophesied as I was commanded.
And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a
rattling sound, and the bones came together,
bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh
appeared on them and skin covered them, but
there was no breath in them. Then he said to me,
'Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man,
and say to it, "This is what the
Sovereign Lord says: 'Come, breath, from the
four winds and breathe into these slain, that
they may live."’”
Message:
Think for a
minute on this promise. This verse is very
dear to my heart. I have a son who
struggled with addiction in his late teens.
This so devastated me and I knew battling him
was not the answer. It always seemed to
really throw fuel on the fire. One day I
was crying out to God to help him and I do
believe God put it on my heart to go to battle
for him through prayer. I decided that day
to fervently pray for my son to be healed.
This is where I do believe my dedication to
constantly lay him at my Father's feet changed
me. The Lord started showing me how to
pray. He then actually put it on my heart
what to pray. I would faithfully get
confirmation through a song, or an encouraging
word from someone later in the day. I got
to a point that I could not wait to battle for
my son with my Father.
I
committed three years
to this prayer petition. One day I was
visiting my son at FSU and I witnessed before my
very eyes, the words of
Ezekiel 37:1-9 (NIV). My son decided in an instant to rededicate his
life to the Lord and submitted his addiction
battle to Him. (Life returned right into
his dry bones). I was in shock even
though I had peace that the timing was in
His hands. My son is free today!
Prayer:
During this
Lenten Season I am not only going to give up
something to honor You, but I am going to be
proactive in seeking You in prayer for my
deepest concerns in this life and allow my will
to line up with Yours. Give me the
strength to commit to prayer and please change
my heart to reflect Yours. In Jesus' name,
Amen!
